There were goals galore as the Maccabi Masters League kicked off its season.

Defending champions Brady Maccabi A set out their stall with a 7-1 victory over new boys Hendon Harriers. Fara Moghim put the Harriers ahead but goals from Scott Ansher (2), Mark Wagman (2), David Rose, Neil Kochane and Jonathan Cohen saw Brady home.

Last season’s runners-up Glenthorne United A also beat South Mancs A 6-3 with debutant Laurence Swerner notching a pair and Richard Goldstein, Jon Bolle, Dave Michaels and Greg Morris chipping in with one apiece. Mark Powell (2) and Mark Klinger replied for Mancs.

Strikes from Dean Schulberg, Richard Sacks and Ashley Davidson helped North London Raiders edge out Faithfold 3-2. Darren Saffer and Russell Rich replied.

EDRS started the defence of their Division Two crown with a 3-0 win over last season’s runners-up, Norstar. Mark Kingston, Martin Seifert and Gary Shaw were the marksmen.

Lions made their intentions clear with a 9-1 demolition of Clayhall, with Marc Morris (3), David Pollock (2), David Price (2), Howard Freeman and Stuart Coutts hitting the net for Lions, and Brian Deal (pen) providing Clayhall’s sole response.

Ashlodge launched their season with a 3-2 win over Temple Fortune. Geoff Green (2) and Meir Velenski scored for Ashlodge, with Robert Botkai and Gary Burns netting for Fortune.
