articlemain

Strikes from Hezi Yechiel, player-manager Richard Davis and an own goal helped new boys Waldaf Town kick off season 2012-13 of the Maccabi Masters League with a thrilling 3-2 win over Scrabble.

Scrabble benefitted from an own goal of their own, with Charlie Bernstein adding the other.

A four-goal salvo from summer signing Gary Cohen saw North London Raiders set out their title aspirations with a 5-1 thumping of Glenthorne A. Cohen's brother, Darren, another new signing, got the other. Daniel Sugarman grabbed a consolation for the Thornes.

In Division Two, defending champions Glenthorne B fared rather better with a 4-2 win over EDRS Stonegrove, courtesy of goals from Jason Levy (2), Sid Shaw and Dave Galman. Ian Leader and Malcolm Joseph replied for EDRS.

Temple Fortune bagged a 3-1 victory over Marshside thanks to goals from Robert Botkai (2) and Jeremy Fess. Pete Matthews pulled one back for Marshside.
