Elan Ovits saluted his North London Raiders players after they moved six points clear at the top of the Maccabi Masters League with a 2-0 victory over defending champions Chigwell Athletic.

Strikes from Gideon Gold and James Cartmell earned NLR their fourth consecutive victory.

NLR manager Elan Ovits said: “We knew this was going to be a tough game against the champions, but I thought we outplayed
Chigwell in all departments and deserved our win with two fantastic goals.

“It's very early days to get carried away, but we're currently playing some great football and look forward to the next game.”

Maccabi London Lions A recorded their second success in the division with a 3-0 defeat of Scrabble, courtesy of a brace from Craig Pearl with Hadley Silver also hitting the back of the net.

In Division Two, Marshside secured their first win, beating Brady B 3-2, with goals from Jason Rich, Justin Woolf and Gil Barel. Roger Kay scored twice for Brady.
