Maccabi Masters review: November 24

articlemain

North London Raiders took over at the top of the Maccabi Masters League Division 1 table as overcame former league champions Brady Maccabi A to win 5-3.

Two goals from Gary Cohen plus one apiece from, Tony Plaskow, Kevin Lotzof and Marc Posner cemented the points in their fifth win of the season.

David Rose, Dan Levy and Scott Ansher replied for Brady.

Scrabble beat Waldaf Town 3-1 with goals from Stephan Simons (2) and Charlie Bernstein, with James Kaye scoring for Waldaf.

A fabulous five-goal salvo from Jason Levy helped Glenthorne United A maintain their 100 per cent record with a six consecutive victory to go top of Division Two.

They completed a spectacular 15-1 demolition of Marshside with further efforts from Paul van Gelder (3), Darren Leventhal (3), Greg Morris (2), David Michaels and Sid Shaw, but their perfect defensive record was sullied by Sammy Nourmand’s penalty for Marshside.

Hot on their heels are London Maccabi Lions who returned to winning ways with a 9-2 win over Glenthorne B, with goals from Marc Morris (3), Michael Abraham (2), David Price (2), Simon Barr and Mark Rose.

Glenthorne’s response came from Nick Pitch’s fine header and a penalty from Adam Lennard.

And following their defeat of Lions last week, St John’s Wood Tigers found themselves on the wrong end of a surprise 2-0 scoreline as Yali Mamouri scored twice for Temple Fortune.

Delighted Fortune boss David Goldberg commented: "What an absolutely excellent display. We were boosted by the newcomers (Steve Bogen, John Segal and Phil Mayer) and the defence were superb, but generally it was a great team performance. Of course, it made a big difference having a proper forward."
