Maccabi Masters review: February 17

articlemain

A hat-trick from Simon Gold boosted Southgate Harmen's title hopes as they exacted revenge over fellow high-flyers North London Raiders with a 5-2 victory.

Further strikes from Russell Becker and Robbie Weber sealed the win. Gary Cohen replied with a brace for Raiders.

A Martin Seifert hat‐trick and a penalty from Jon Holman gave leaders EDRS Stonegrove a 4‐1 win over Ashlodge. Vince Goodman grabbed a consolation.

Glenthorne United B remain just a point behind EDRS, with two games in hand, following a 4-1 win over title rivals London Maccabi Lions.

Neil Richards, Adam Hart, Stuart Block and an own goal accounted for the Glenthorne goals, while Marc Morris netted for Lions.

Temple Fortune had a comfortable 3‐0 win over Hendon Harriers, with Robert Botkai (2) and Jonathan Dubiner doing the damage.

The win extended Fortune's their winning run to four matches for the first time since 2006. The win avenged a 4-2 league defeat earlier in the season.

After a goalless first half, Fortune deservedly took the lead through a Dubiner header after which Botkai added two more goals.

Fortune boss David Goldberg said: "In truth we should have won this match by a hatful, after missing so many chances. But it's another good win and there's some self-belief in this team which is growing."

The Club's all-time longest serving player, Peter Kyte, remarked: "It was one of the most solid, positive performances with all-round effort, that I've ever seen the Old Boys play."

St John’s Wood Tigers maintained their excellent recent form to move into third spot with a 5‐0 win over Marshside, thanks to goals
from Paul Herszaft (3), Ilan Cohen and an own goal.
