Maccabi GB unveils 2018 JCC Games squad

Maccabi GB have finalised the squad list who will represent them at this summer’s JCC Maccabi Games in Orange County, California.

Janice and Ian Aarons will lead the squad for the third time and oversee the 71-person delegation, together with general team manager Alex Elf.

“We have an extremely talented squad who have shown incredible passion and skill in training,” said Ian Aarons. “The athletes can expect intense competition mixed with plenty of exciting events with their host families and other young, Jewish participants from around the world.”

The annual Games, which will run from August 2-12, will feature more than over 2,400 Jewish athletes under the age of 16 to represent their country in America in a sporting environment.

Janice Aarons has high hopes for the squad and remarked: “I know our delegation will have an incredible time and do British Jewry proud.

“Each host city puts on a fantastic experience and having attended the delegation heads meeting earlier this year, there is no doubt Orange County will be no different. “

Another element of the event is a social and cultural programmes and general team manager Alex Elf is confident the team will deliver on and off the sports field.

He said: “We have seen the hard work and dedication the athletes have put into training over the recent months and I am really looking forward to seeing them compete on the international stage.

“I am equally excited to be working alongside our fantastic management team, some of who will also experience the JCC Maccabi Games for the first time.”
