Sawdaye will manage the squad, working closely with assistant Liam Stein in a competition dominated by the USA over recent years.

The MGB squad features a number of players with international experience from JCC Maccabi Games in the USA.

Sawdaye, said, “We are incredibly excited by the calibre of our squad and the dedication that all the girls have shown to the team.

“We have, by far, one of the strongest girls football teams to date. Whilst some of the girls have a wealth of MGB experience, having competed at different international tournaments, for some this is their first involvement with the organisation.

“The one thing that we all have in common is that this is the first time we will represent Team Maccabi GB at the Maccabiah; something that makes this experience even more special for our team.”

Stein added: “As a team, we are working incredibly hard to prepare for the tournament and it is our aim to go to Israel and impress on the football pitch.

“The sporting side of the trip is of course extremely important to us but from the outset it has been our aim to give each and every girl on the team the best possible all-round sporting, social and cultural experience of being in Israel and representing GB.”
