Team GB's AJ Rosen finished 16th in the men's singles luge at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Going into the fourth and final run in 15th, Rosen, 25, would have made history as the highest placed British slider in the luge in Olympics history. But he missed out after going round the course in 48.856 seconds. His 16th place finish equalled his performance at the Turin Olympics four years ago.

“There have been some ups and downs, but overall I'm really happy with my performance. “The times are so close between the sliders, it was just fractions of a second.”

Rosen said he was pleased to have competed at his second Olympic Winter Games, particularly as he thought he could miss out on the Games following an accident at the start of the season in which he dislocated and suffered such bad nerve damage that, for a while, he lost feeling in his leg.

The road to recovery has been a tough one involving repeat visits to the British Olympic Association’s intensive rehabilitation centre at Bisham Abbey but Rosen’s focus has always been on reaching these Games.

“Four months ago I didn't know whether I was going to be here, so right now I'm just enjoying it,” he said. “I made it, it's been a lot of hard work, but it's paid off.”

And he said there’s still a lot more to come from him in the sport. “A lot of the top lugers are in their 30s and I'm only 25, so there's still a long time for me go yet. I'm going to get faster for Sochi 2014.”

His final combined time of 3:16.016 was 2.931 seconds off Germany's gold medallist Felix Loc.
