LMV U13's edge home by five runs

articlemain

An excellent knock by Thomas Goulde helped London Maccabi Vale Under 13's edge past Enfield by five runs.

A quite remarkable match saw six LMV players marooned on a closed M25 and arrived in the seventh over as the remaining four players had had to start the contest, and Zac Wolpe and Sam Stain batted with Goulde with a skill and maturity that belied their age to keep the innings alive until reinforcements arrived.

Goulde's innings, which included a remarkable 11 boundaries, was ended by Enfield's best bowler on 49 and despite having been 7-2 after seven overs, LMV managed to reach 102 at the end of their 20 overs with great contributions from Gidon Katten and Nathan Wise.

In the Enfield reply, Nathan Wise bowled quickly and economically and was joined by Dani Lazard, Zac Garcia, Jamie and Zac Wolpe in keeping the Enfield score well below the asking rate and some excellent fielding - including one 40-yard direct hit run out by Noah Silver - took LMV into the last over with Enfield needing six to win.

An ice-cool Goulde bowled aggressively and Enfield managed only one run and lost two wickets to run-outs and after a very difficult start, LMVCC under-13's finished the season on a great high with a superb win.
