LML U12's win in Brussels

articlemain

The London Maccabi Lions under-12 B-squad sent two teams to a tournament in Brussels organised and hosted by Maccabi Brussels.

Before the knock-out stages, one of the Lions teams was drawn in the group of death and achieved a very creditable fifth place out of 10 overall in the tournament via the play-offs.

The other Lions team comfortably won their group, squeezed past Union Sportive d'Ophain 2-1 in the semi-finals before playing with huge spirit and skill in soaring temperatures to beat a very strong Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the final on penalties, sparking a mass celebration amongst the whole squad and supporting parents.

Proud manager Amir Klaus said: "It's been a magnificent weekend. Leaving Brussels as tournament champions was well deserved for a very special squad who are a credit to the club."
