Lions well beaten by Malaga Academy

articlemain

London Maccabi Lions U15's have returned from their second consecutive post season football tour where they played against a strong Malaga CF U15 academy side.

The tour was based in Marbella, Spain where the boys were due to play two games at the prestigious Marbella Football Centre, including game that pitched the boys from north London against the mighty La Liga outfit.

Malaga CF brought 22 boys with them, so serious rotation was expected. A 5.30pm kick off and the weather was a cool 24 degrees, Lions held the nerve for the first 15 minutes shutting out all Malaga attacks only to concede two quickfire goals around the 18-minute mark.

Whilst Lions set themselves up with a five-man midfield, the sheer class of these stars of the future was just a beautiful footballing sight to behold.

After a really tough 90 minutes the game ended with an 8-0 defeat, whilst the result was not exactly what Lions wanted, the experience of playing against some of Spain's potential stars of the next World Cup was just too good to refuse.

LML coach Matt Travers said: "The chance to come against this sort of opposition was just so exciting for me as a coach and, of course, for the boys."
