Dons Hool Legends have been crowned champions of the Jerusalem Football Six-a-side League after beating Guarana 1-0 in the final.
The first half was a very tense affair, with few chances for either team. The Legends created the best opening, with Guarana keeper Benjy Spiegel making a decent save from Zack Lewis following a defensive error. Guarana threatened on occasion, with Yitzy Hill and Daniel Cohen blazing shots over the bar.
Guarana were having the better of possesion and went close on numerous occasions, but with the Legends keeper Chaim Leizorek in inspired form, the scoreline remained blank.
Sammy Shaw looked threatening every time he received the ball showing, reminding the fans why he went into the final as joint-top-scorer. Indeed the Legends were rescued by the post three times in a frenetic spell as Guarana had nothing to show for their first-half superiority.
The Legends improved in the second half, producing some slick passing that culminated in a number of chances.
A combination of Joseph Miller and Yehoshua Marcovich broke up the ever-dangerous Shaw and Eli Philips.
The Legends were lacking quality in the final third and extra-time looked on the cards until a moment of magic from Lewis with five minutes to go. Receiving the ball on the halfway line from Hill, a quality first touch found him one-on-one with the defender. A brilliant piece of skill took him clear before he unleashed a bullet of a left-foot shot into the top corner, giving Spiegel in goal no chance.
Miller then had a goal disallowed after a free-flowing counter-attacking move and the Legends held on for a well earned victory.
