Levine reflects on finest moment

Jesse Levine described playing on Centre Court as a career highlight.

The Canadian produced a battling performance against eighth seed Juan Martin Del Potro in the second round of the Men’s Singles.

He led 5-2 in the second set and a three-point lead in the tiebreaker before going down 2-6, 6-7 (7-9), 3-6 against the 2009 US Open champion.

"I had a locker-room attendant take me out before the match just so I could see what it was like," Levine said. "It was the first time I had set foot on it and I didn’t want to be a deer in the headlights during the match.

"It was different when it was full of people and I was in a pressure situation, but overall it was amazing. I’d watched Wimbledon at home and now it was me playing out there."

Ranked 112, Levine admits he still has some way to go until he can compete with the world’s top players.

"Guys in the top 10 can come up with the big shots at the right moment and that’s what Del Potro did,” he said.
