Ledermen lead the way for LMV

articlemain

For the first time in 2012, London Maccabi Vale were able to celebrate victory for both sides in their Middlesex Sunday League fixtures last Sunday.

The 1st XI inflicted the first league defeat for the season on the league champions, SKLP. Benjamin Lederman led the way with 55 , his first 50 for the senior side. Aided by splendid innings from Adam Brand, Johnny Gould and Neil Lederman, LMV posted a total of 248-5 in their 40 overs.

In reply, SKLP were pinned back by Neil Lederman’s excellent 4-32, and despite a fine run chase ended up 15 short on 233-7.

This result followed a previous fine victory over the runners-up in the first division, MTSSC.

The 2nds defeated Belmont & Edgware in their bottom of Division Three clash at Rowley Lane. With both sides fairly weak this was going to be a tough fixture with LMV batting first.

Despite some combative and enthusiastic bowling for B&E the score crept up (aided by copious extras) and a last-wicket partnership of 21 allowed LMV to reach a total of 142.

In reply, a steady start from B&E promised much but a stunning catch by Ben Kohler changed the game’s complexion. Despite a fine unbeaten effort from David Caplin, he lacked support at the other end, and Jonathan Lederman’s burst of three quick wickets saw B&E bowled out for 114.

A fine way for both teams to end their league season.
