Laetitia lets it slip

articlemain

Laetitia Beck's first major ended in disappointment as she missed the cut at the British Ladies Open at Royal Birkdale.

Beck, 22, carded a six-over-par 78 in the first round followed by a 77, failing to reach the closing two rounds by five shots.

Playing in her first tournament as a pro, Beck, who graduated from Duke University earlier this year, registered three birdies in her second round.

She plans to attend qualifying school for both the LPGA and the Ladies European Tour later this year, but needs to discuss her IDF duties first.

"We all have to serve four years, and I want to serve, but I also think I can do more for my country by playing golf," she said.
