Robert Kraft described the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl victory over the Atlanta Falcons as the sweetest of the team’s five victories.

The Patriots produced the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history to win 34-28 in overtime and claim a fifth title in the most dramatic of circumstances.

“Two years ago we won our fourth Super Bowl down in Arizona and I told our fans that was the sweetest one of all,” Kraft said. “But a lot has transpired over the last two years and I don’t think that needs any explanation. I want to say to our fans, brilliant coaching staff and players who are so spectacular, this is unequivocally the sweetest.

I’m incredibly proud to say for the fifth time, we are all Patriots.”

Julian Edelman, who has a Jewish father and plays wide receiver, played a key role, producing what has been described as “a miracle catch” as he managed to evade three Atlanta Falcons players and catch the incoming ball just centimetres off the ground as the Patriots made up a 25-point deficit.
