JRDA snaps up Day

articlemain

The Jewish Racing Drivers Association (JRDA), a new initiative aiming to produce a Jewish Formula One world champion in the next five years, has teamed up with teenage Israeli star Alon Day.

The German Formula 3 driver, racing for HS Techneck Motorsport, will carry the JRDA logo on his car.

Paul Burns of the JRDA said: "The agreement highlights that there is someone who is doing fantastically well who is Jewish and we are planning to go to Austria to see Alon race in August.

"If you'd said back in January we'd have a relationship with an Israeli driver in Formula Three then nothing will surprise me any more.

"There is an untapped reserve of people interested in this without any real outlet."

Day said: "Having the JRDA logo on my car acts as a visible reminder to our community that anyone with enough ambition and drive can achieve anything and that nothing is impossible."

The Israeli scored the first pole position of his Formula Three career at the weekend at the Sachsenring, and Burns believes the 19-year-old is on the right track to success.

"He's in a good formula and has a good team. He's got a pole already and is doing really well."
