Josh Newman has qualified for the national finals after winning the Hitchin Grading Eastern Region competition.

Newman, 12, beat rivals seven years his senior to reach the six national galas starting in Hatfield on February 5. He will also compete in Gillingham, Manchester, Cardiff, South Shields and Birmingham between now and July if he claims a high finish at the first two gala competitions.

Newman's dramatic rise should see him selected for the Great Britain squad challenging at the World Aged Games in July. He faces a busy schedule including the London Youth Games in May.

Newman's equipment sponsors, Ceetex, are donating a £6,000-championship trampoline to his school, King Solomon.
