ATHLETICO FINCHLEY 1 JEWVENTUS 5
Jewve manager sent his troops out this morning with Danny Caro's prediction ringing in their ears, and they didn't disappoint their gaffer by running in five goals against Athletico Finchley.
Always on the end of a Caro downer, Jewve thought it was time time to prove the JC pundit way out with his scoreline.
Athletico went into the game missing keeper Doug Carson, captain Sam Marchant, and other important players Isaac Eleini, David Tamman, Adam Goldstein and Jake Barnett.
They only managed to put out a squad of 11 players and things were made worse when Zach Margolin pulled his hamstring in the first half.
The game started badly for Jewve when after seven minutes star striker Mike Gill went off with a pulled hamstring.
It mattered not as midfield maestro Gab Saul was on hand to slot into the middle of the park, releasing Man-Of-the-Match Nigel Sommeck to play up top with workhorse, James Alexander.
Things then got good for The Old Lady as an Alexander corner was nodded home by Dan Ezra.
It got worse for Finchley, when a push on a Jewve striker was rewarded by a penalty, which old timer Gabe John tucked home.
As soon as the second started, with Jewve two goals to the good, Athletico were preparing to cheer as new signing Guy Belot went past the keeper and faced an open goal. However, he blundered the chance after the ball bobbled. - Taxi for Belot.
Athletico player-manager Rabstein filled in in between the sticks and despite the scoreline, he had a fantastic game - pulling off some tremendous saves - especially a diving one handed save from a free kick heading for the top corner.
Jewve went in at half time 2-0 up at a canter, but they clearly didn't see what was to come, as Athletico stepped up through the gears in the second half and started to play some really good football.
The Finchley No. 10 smashing a few great shots towards goal, but not quite testing shot stopper Reuben John.
Jewve pushed on and grabbed a third a neat finish from Sommeck.
The game was then an end to end affair and Athletico got their reward when new signing Guy Belot smashed home after some good work.
Jewventus weren't to be undone though. Alexander scored a really good solo goal, before Sommeck scored the goal of the game. A sweeping move involving Martell, Wynbourne and Sommeck ended in a great finish by Sommeck.
Jewve player-manager Gabriel John told JC Sport: "A good scoreline for the boys in black and white, maybe a little harsh on AF.
"Next week is the tasty return fixture against Temple Fortune."
Belot managed to get Athletico a consolation goal later on.
Athletico chief Zach Margolin told JC Sport; "Today, we were very unfortunate to lose so many key players for one game. It was a shame and it was always going to be a tough game.
"We look forward to the reverse fixture when we have a full team. But credit to Jewventus who took advantage and and ran away with the match."
