Excel League Under 12 Cup Quarter-Finals
North West London Jets 1 Shenley 0

North West London Jets beat Shenley in the last eight of the Under 12's Excel League Cup.

NWLJ got the game underway and were instantly on the ascendancy. The Jets threatened the Shenley goal on numerous occasions with Eytan Kleinberg, David Amor and Ari Kessler all hitting the woodwork.

The jets continued to pressurise the Shenley goal with the opposing goalkeeper proving to be up for the challenge.

Shenley were awarded a penalty near the end of the first half after an aerial pass opened up the NWLJ defence for the Shenley striker to latch on to. The striker's heels were then clipped in the penalty area, resulting in him tumbling to the ground. Fortunately for the Jets the penalty went wide of the target.

The first half drew to a close with the scores level at 0-0, despite both teams having chances to break the deadlock.

The second half continued in a similar vein to the first with NWLJ dominating proceedings with some excellent passing, creating numerous goalscoring opportunities.

The deadlock was not broken until the final three minutes due to the excellent form of the Shenley keeper. A corner for NWLJ was swung in by Akiva Restan and then calmly moved around in a cluttered penalty area only to find the feet of Joel Leighton who calmly swivelled to his left and slotted the ball into the Shenley net to grab the winner and see the Jets fly into the semi-finals of the cup.

The man of the match award went to the Shenley goalkeeper for his outstanding display between the sticks.
