SUNDAY FA CUP

BRIXTON OLD BOYS A 5 MASS FC 3 AET
Brixton progressed into the next round of the cup after edging past Mass FC after extra time.

Rob Hershkorn (2), Jamie Kent (2) and James Kaye were the marksmen for Brixton.

Brixton found themselves 3-1 down with two minutes of normal time remaining. Kent pulled one back before Hershkorn forced extra time with the last kick of the game.

Kent put Brixton ahead seven minutes into extra time before Kaye sealed the tie.

Brixton boss John Nitka told JC Sport: "What a match! Mass FC have not lost for two seasons winning their league and cup last year. This has to be one of the best performances I have seen for a long time - a credit to my players.

"I cannot say anymore other than a fantastic performance from the 11 players out there today."

Avidan Last was the matchwinner as Hendon completed a quickfire league double over Neasden to go three points clear at the top, on a day when title rivals Faithfold A and Redbridge A lost.

It could have been 2-0 but Greg Corin missed the penalty for Hendon after substitute Yoav Kestenbaum was brought down by the keeper who was then sent off.

Mark Leader put the visitors ahead in the first half when a hopeful ball over the top was misjudged by RJC keeper Dan Lee and bounced into the net.

RJC enjoyed the lions-share of possession and chances in the second half and they drew level after 89 minutes when Joel Berg capitalised on a mis-understanding in the Raiders defence to head over Dan Cohen.

But Raiders were not to be denied as straight from the restart, supersubs Andrew McMaster and Adam Posner linked up on the break, with the latter sending in a delicious cross to the far post that was headed against his own bar by Sam McCarthy and went in off the unfortunate Lee.
