Thornes player-manager Dan Lipman told JC Sport: "We were well off the pace in the first half, and the Neasden own goal at the end of the first half was very unlucky.
"But we came out flying in the second half, looking more like we did last year.
"This was my first 90 minutes of the season, as I missed all of pre-season and only played bit parts in the first two games due to injury.
"I'm still well off the pace but am happy with my goals. Though I should have had a couple in the first half."
NWN boss Louis Taylor told JC Sport: "It was a much closer game than the scoreline suggested. We basically dominated the first half.
"Fitness and the fact that we were missing one or two key players let us down in the end, but we can take a lot from this game into our league campaign."

Jake Saunders, Josh Marks, Leo Feldman and Joey Marks were the goal men.
Camden's Nick Kagan told JC Sport: "Another good performance, so far we have improved week on week and goals are coming from all over the team.
"Mike Khalastchi returned from Canada and was solid as a rock in central defence, contributing to our first clean sheet of the season, whilst going forward we continued with our record of scoring four goals in every game.
"We're looking forward to the draw for the next round, we would love to get a crack at one of the big boys.
"A word of praise for Norstar as well. They battled hard and didn't let their heads drop, even after going in three goals down at the break."

Michael Myers' men won a seven-goal thriller with strikes from Matt Sheldon (2), Max Worth and David Cohen.
Goals for Finchley came via Richard Hayim, Sam Marchant and Amit Dinowitz.
FC Team boss Michael Myers told JC Sport: "Although we didn't perform to our best, we dug deep and were able to beat a young and energetic opponent.
"Both Keepers made good saves as both teams were always pressing up the pitch and going for the win."
Athletico boss Dovid Kurzer told JC Sport: "We played well, however towards the end three or four players started cramping up and there was a lapse of concentration for their fourth goal.
"It was unfortunate because we played very well but didn't capitalise on our chances but thats football, you need to take your chances."

Another close tie saw Raiders C edge past Division Four rivals Boca Jewniors courtesy of goals from Toby Katz, Matt Keston and Sam Morell.
Raiders boss Oli Shorts told JC Sport: "We had a makeshift team out against Boca with many players playing out of position. Due to the registration process being 14 days in advance, we had entre back Josh Graham in goal for 90 minutes. He did a remarkable job making a couple of crucial saves. He showed what a skipper is all about by nominating himself to go between the sticks.
"Boca are definetely not as bad as the 10-1 result against FC Team would suggest. They have some very good players and I'm sure as the season progresses they'll improve.
"Boca took the lead midway through the first half but credit goes to my players for upping the ante and scoring three goals.
"Our second half performance was poor but we managed to hold onto the lead which has given us three wins from three games.
"I couldn't have asked for more out of the first three games. We have a tough match against a physical Jewventus side next week so our focus goes straight back to the league fixture."
