YOUR WEEKEND REVIEW STARTS HERE:

PETER MORRISON TROPHY ROUND THREE

PHILLIPS PUT SUPERHOOPS IN SEVENTH HEAVEN
BLIZZARD STORM 1 FAITHFOLD A 7
A hat-trick from DARYL PHILLIPS helped Faithfold set up a clash away to Manchester Maccabi 1st as they finished in seventh heaven against second division Blizzard.

Two apiece from Dan Perkins and Jonny Haik put the icing on the cake for Zuriel Solomons' men who are still chasing silverware on four fronts.

Blizzard's consolation came through Daniel Simons.

Solomons told JC Sport: "We played extremely well on a heavy pitch and scored five goals in the first half. We also dominated the second, scoring two more.

"To be honest we dominated the entire game. Blizzard worked hard but we were too strong today. We now get ready for Manchester where we expect a tougher game."

Blizzard boss Simon Linden told JC Sport: "I'm proud of my team for a well disciplined performance against the best team in the MSFL

"We could have dropped our heads after half time but remained switched on, focused and only conceded two goals in the second half.

"We have to now turn our attention to staying up, we have a lot of games to get ready for."

JC CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP QUARTER-FINAL

S&S DESTROY FORTUNE
TEMPLE FORTUNE A 1 REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A 5
Steve Summers and Adam Stolerman, Redbridge's version of the SAS, scored two apiece as Eilon Kennet's men outclassed first division Temple Fortune A at Gosling Sports Park.

RJC old boy Dan Orgel had given the hosts a shock lead, but RJC hit back in style, with centre half Joel Berg completing the rout for Redbridge to set up a semi-final clash at Camden Park.

RJC manager Eilon Kennet told JC Sport: "It was a difficult pitch, I'm not sure it was really playable, but that applies to both sides.

"As expected, we were really rusty and went in at half time 1-1. Second half we were much better and more or less penned the opposition in their half, as the goals came and our confidence grew. As for TF they played with dignity and never gave up.

"So, now we need to start focusing on next week's game against a rejuvenated Lions A."

Having seen the team lose at the Anekstein quarter-final stage for the sixth time, Fortune boss Lee Fegan said: "Taking the positives out of today, there was no traffic on the A1 and the weather was nice!" Enough said!"

DC Prediction: Temple Fortune 1 Redbridge 3

ELLIS EXCELS AS BRADY HAMMER HENDON
BRADY MACCABI A 4 HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A 2
Two goals from Jonny Ellis boosted Brady's title hopes as they came away with a stunning win over defending champions Hendon at Rowley Lane.

Ellis converted two penalties, with goals number one and three, as Brady claimed their fifth win of the season. There were also goals for Jonathan Green and Zack White.

Hendon's goals came through Jacob Gold and Danny Kon.

Brady boss Joel Nathan told JC Sport: "This was certainly a game of two halves; Hendon controlled the first half as we could not get a grip on the game and we gifted them both goals, which was very disappointing.

"Today was a great result and showed the character the squad have developed over the past few weeks fighting for each other and a never-say-die attitude. "We now look forward to next week and will be up for anything."

Hendon boss David Garbacz told JC Sport: "The match completely turned with the single worst decision I have ever seen in any form of football when the ref somehow awarded a penalty for a clear chest in the area by Josh Lipman. To say it was soft would do it injustice but it totally galvanised a Brady team who up until that moment were being totally outplayed and, by their own admission, were lucky to be only 2-0 down.

"This is a massive blow but we will keep plugging away, try to get as many points as possible from our remaining four games and hope that other results go our way."

LEADER LEADS NORSTAR HOME
NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A 2 NORSTAR A 3
Mark Leader came back to haunt his former club as Norstar claimed a rare win against Raiders at Brunel.

Further strikes from Zak McLeod and an own goal sealed Norstar's second win of the season in a game they finished with 10 men after keeper Ben Sheldon, another Raiders old boy, was sent off for dissent.

David DInkin bagged a brace for Raiders.

Norstar assistant-manager Jamie Slavin, who took charge in the absence of Phil Peters, told JC Sport: "When Raiders pulled back level it felt that 80 minutes of dedication, commitment and hard work would mean nothing and it would just be another one of those days that's summed up our season. But the reaction of the lads was superb. It's been a tough few months but we still believe we can drag ourselves out of the drop zone. Three more performances like today and we give ourselves a chance."

Disappointed Raiders boss Rob Richman told JC Sport: "Full credit to Norstar who were well worthy of the win. Despite coming back from two goals down and Norstar scoring with the last kick of the game, they fully deserved to win the game and get the three points.

"Norstar played with effort, desire and a lot of passion something that was somewhat missing from my team today. Our good run for the last couple of months has come to an end and it is important we react in the correct manner to this disappointment."

LIONS A ARE GR-8
LONDON MACCABI LIONS A 8 OAKWOOD A 1
MAX KYTE was at his majestic best as Lions A ran riot against Oakwood at Rowley Lane.

Further goals from Nick Landesberg, Alex Jacobs, Benji Weinberger and James Gold completed the rout.

Oakwood's consolation came through Jonny Quinn.

Delighted Lions boss Andy Landesberg told JC Sport: "This team owed themselves and the Club a big performance today, and they duly delivered. James Gershfield and I were very specific with what we wanted from the team, and we could ask for no more. It was exactly what was needed. This is a very young team by MSFL standards, and they really are starting to gel and a great spirit is developing fast."

Oaks joint-manager Ric Blank told JC Sport: "We just had too many big players unavailable today and those that played fell woefully short of the standard we have set at this club. Lions worked harder than we did and thoroughly deserved their comprehensive victory."

Two goals from Gideon Gold and another from top-scorer Jamie Kent sealed the win.

Shirley went 3-0 up in the first 20 minutes and missed several other chances, including a penalty by Stefan Benfredj.

Chigwell replied with two headers from Paul Lenchner.

Shirley boss Dave Lusman told JC Sport: "Chiggers looked really dangerous from set-pieces and were a real pain to deal with. All in all it was a decent game on a really boggy pitch."

Camden Park maintained their excellent run of form with a battling 2-1 victory over Harmen at Ashmole School.

The visitors went ahead only for James Stanley to level things up for Harmen but Camden won the game after converting from another set-piece.

Disappointed Harmen boss Dan Uzan told JC Sport: "We can't buy a win at the moment. I thought we played well, and had the lionsshare of chances, but when your luck is against you, nothing seems to go in."

NORTH WEST NEASDEN B 2 REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B 2
As predicted, Redbridge B came away with an impressive point after drawing with title-chasing Neasden B at Hertswood Leisure Centre in Borehamwood.

With manager Jon Jacobs away, Richard Bronzite came away all smiles after seeing Ben Binder and Harrison Grant score for the second consecutive week.

Neasden's goals came through Michael Irving and Benjy Gourgey.

SEE VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

Bronzite told JC Sport: " I thought that the boys did very well for the first 70 minutes of the game. We were well disciplined, focused and nearly got the three points we probably deserved. To be 2-0 up against one of the top teams in this league is a rare achievement. We just need to learn to kill teams off and keep the ball.

"Once they scored one we were on the back foot and looked nervous. Neasden are a very good side who like us like to get the ball down and play football so it was a good battle to watch, just annoying we could not go home with three points."
