JUNIOR COUNTY CUP ROUND THREE

COUSINS LATE SHOW LIFTS OAKS
TWENTE BOSON 1 OAKWOOD A 2
A late strike from Bobby Cousins booked Oakwood a place in round four of the Junior County Cup following a 2-1 victory over Twente Boson.

The Oaks forged ahead with an early well-taken goal from Brad Wine and looked set to win comfortably until Twente equalised with a free kick midway through the half.

Oaks player-manager Ric Blank told JC Sport: "Everyone went straight to the club shop and drained it of Cousins 10 merchandise. Well I did anyway!

"It was a good win overall and now we look forward to a huge cup game at Brady next week."

RAMPANT LIONS HIT BRIXTON FOR SIX
BRIXTON OLD BOYS 0 LONDON MACCABI LIONS A 6
Having told me he isn't the messiah on Tuesday, interim-manager Andy Landesberg clearly is after the Lions hit Brixton for six in a match played at Rowley Lane.

Two goals from TJ Keterman, plus one apiece from Max Kyte, Shim Bensoor, Oli Craig and Dan Behar put the icing on the cake.

A delighted Landesberg told JC Sport: "It was a great response from a very committed group of players today, which included six teenagers. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The boys all responded to what I asked for and together put the Lions A team show back on the road.

Brixton boss John Nitka told JC Sport: "When you have a game against Lions, a strong team is required and I had Blackman, Kaye, Hershkorn, Fierstone, Weinberg, Weisz J, Greenham, Goldberg, Kenton and Posner all out due to either being injured or not available, so we did not stand much of a chance."

PHILLIPS ENDS FC TEAM DREAM
FAITHFOLD A 2 FC TEAM C 1
League leaders Faithfold were made to sweat before progressing against Division Three table-toppers FC Team C at Chase Lodge.

Dan Howard and a last-ditch winner from Daryl Phillips saw them home.

Jamie Cooper had equalised for FC Team.

Faithfold boss Zuriel Solomon told JC Sport: "FC Team C should and will take a lot from their efforts. The pitch made the game a bit of a leveller but should not have made a difference to us.

"We did create second half but failed to hit the back of the net. The pleasing thing was Paul Babai returning after six months out and playing the last 20 minutes."

SCORELINE FLATTERED BRADY, SAYS SHORTS
BRADY MACCABI B 4 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS B 1
Dan Hildebrand and Reiss Mogilner bagged braces as Brady romped to victory in the all Division Two clash at Rowley Lane.

Simon Buchler grabbed a consolation for Raiders.

Brady boss Josh Dagul told JC Sport: "We deservedly went in 2-0 up at half time after a very good first half performance. In the second half they came back into it deservedly pulling one back. We won a penalty on the counter and went on to score another late on. This Sunday should be interesting when we face them again!"

Raiders boss Oli Shorts told JC Sport: "We were 2-0 down at half time in an even game. The difference was that they they took their chances.

"We played well and halved the score and looked likely to get the equaliser, but gave away a sloppy penalty with 10 to go. At 3 - 1 we were left exposed at the back. Brady deserved the win, but I think 4-1 was harsh."

FC TEAM A 4 NORSTAR A 3
FC Team A came from 3-0 down to deny Norstar their first-ever victory in the Premier Division, with strikes from Richard Salmon (2), Jake Weiner and Declan Selbo completing a memorable comeback for Mitch Young's men.

Norstar top-scorer JOSH GREEN had put his team in the box-seat with a first-half hat-trick.

A proud Young told JC Sport: "After being 0-3 down at half time, I am absoloutely delighted with the win. The spirit, football and desire we showed to win the game in the second half was phenomonal.

"The three goals we conceeded were individual defensive errors and I am getting fed up of mentioning them each week. We must improve defensively.

"I am pleased because after our long ball tactics weren't working, we decided to play some nice football and scored four lovely worked goals. Somehow we won the match indeed!

"The league is wide open so every win counts but we must look at taking each game at a time and build on the second half performance. Overall though I am delighted to secure the three points. Good luck to Norstar for the remainder of the season."

SUPER STOLY AT THE DOUBLE
REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A 2 HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A 0
Adam Stolerman maintained his excellent run of goal-scoring form with both goals as Redbridge boosted their title hopes with victory over defending champions Hendon at Fairlop.

The win lifted RJC above Hendon and within three points of leaders Faithfold.

Jubilant RJC manager Eilon Kennet told JC Sport: "Games against Hendon are always hard. We got the breaks in the first half with Stolly scoring twice with almost identical goals. Second half was about parking the bus and defending resolutely."

Hendon boss David Garbacz told JC Sport: "Overall I was disappointed with our performance – we had some absentees but that is no excuse – we are the champions and performances must improve."

CAMDEN PARK 6 CHIGWELL ATHLETIC 2
Camden Park completed a league double over Chigwell after hitting the east Londoners for six in Wembley.

A hat-trick from RICHARD SILVER, plus one apiece from Rob Hershkorn, Josh Toff and player-manager Josh Marks eased them home.

Anthony Mendel and Dean Ben Yosef netted for Chigs in the second half.

Camden's Nick Kagan told JC Sport: "It was a very good team performance from us, Chigwell couldn't live with our pace and movement. This performance had been coming for a while. It's so important now that we carry this form on."

Chigwell player-manager Richard Slater told JC Sport: "We started lively but didn't show enough work rate or desire today and got punished. Ultimately we were beaten by a younger, fitter and better side."

Chigwell squad: Marc Jacobs, Pierce Prince, Paul Lenchner, Lee Hyams, Alex Norman, Brad Gayer, Glenn Davis, Daniel Castle (capt), Richard Baum, Craig Pearl, Richard Slater, Anthony Mendel, Russell Yershon, Jamie Fox, Neil Tilley, Dean Ben-Yosef

LIONS SHOWED GREAT FIGHTING SPIRIT, SAYS KYTE
LONDON MACCABI LIONS B 2 NORTH WEST NEASDEN A 1
As predicted, Lions B ran out 2-1 victors at Rowley Lane, courtesy of strikes from James Gold and Jonny Cutter.

NWN's goal came through top-scorer Lee Cash.

Lions boss Jamie Kyte told JC Sport: "Over the last couple of games we've been lacking that fighting spirit, but today we had it in abundance. Even having lost wonderkid Max Kyte to the A team, we showed that we have depth in our squad to give any club in the MSFL a game.

"Our next couple of games are both against teams higher than us in the league and if we take today's performance into them, I see no reason why we won't be sitting behind Glenthorne in a few weeks."

NWN boss Dan Hodes told JC Sport: "We simply lacked the quality today to create opportunities. We were very poor first half, and in the second half had enough of the ball but rarely used it well and deserved to lose. We will need to put this behind us quickly or we will very soon find ourselves in a relegation scrap."

WONDER KIDS DAZZLE UJIA
SOUTHGATE HARMEN 3 UJIA 0
It was all about the wonder kids for Southgate Harmen on Sunday as Alex Bull (2) and Conor Perlmutter did the business against UJIA at Ashmole School. It finished 3-0, just as I predicted ;)

Harmen boss Dan Uzan told JC Sport: "I'm happy about another clean sheet, and I am pleased for Connor Perlmutter and Alex Bull, two 17-year-olds who scored all our goals.

"It was a spirited effort from UJIA, but I think it is fair to say we should have had a few more."

UJIA manager Ben Radstone told JC Sport: "We had no attacking players available for the match and set up with a team pretty much comprised of defenders and holding midfielders. It was an encouraging performance and I think we quite unlucky to have not come away with a draw."

FOUR-SOME BAUMS SHOW GREAT QUALITY
ATHLETIC BILBAUM 4 BLIZZARD STORM 1
Strikes from Adam Bier, Seb Silverman (2) and Ben Bell saw the Baums boosted their title hopes with an impressive victory over Blizzard Storm.

Stuart Muller had equalised for Blizzard before the Baums stepped up a gear.

Baums joint-manager Mark Pasha told JC Sport: "Another solid Baum display, this week wallowing in the north London mud ... much like hippos playing waterpolo in the Zambezi. There were excellent displays all round in, in particular from Silverman and Si Roth, but most importantly, celebratory rugelach were enjoyed by all at full time. Rumour has it that chopped liver will be on offer if the Baums can register another victory this coming Sunday."

CATS DEFY THE ODDS
CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI 3 SPEC FC 2
The Cats dented in-form SPEC FC's promotion hopes with a stunning victory to boost their hopes of avoiding the drop in a real coupon spoiler.

Ashley Stokes, Ryan Kangisser and Joel Berwitz sealed a memorable morning for the Cats.

Daniel Pike and Dan Amram found the net for SPEC FC.

Stand-in Catford manager Simon Wolfson told JC Sport: "SPEC showed at their place earlier in the season that they are a very good possession side and will punish any team who is not willing to compete for every ball. However, from the start we challenged for every ball and played a classic cat and mouse game, allowing SPEC possession and dropping deep, but then continuously hitting them on the break with pace and precision.

"The exceptional determination that was shown was illustrated by our winning goal two minutes from time, following a period of sustained pressure. If we can carry the attitude we showed into our next few games then Catford are going to start climbing this division to make a late promotion push."

RJC boss Jon Jacobs told JC Sport: "We were well beaten by a very good side. They will take a lot of beating this season and look strong all over the park. For my boys, this is a steep learning curve but we are working hard and will get our rewards as the season wears on."
