Jacobson: Stanley can make final push

Joe Jacobson has set his sights on finishing an excellent season by leading Accrington Stanley to playoff glory.

The 24-year-old, who signed a permanent deal with the League Two club last January following a successful loan spell, has been an integral part of John Coleman's side.

The left-back is hoping to line up against Stevenage Borough on Sunday in the first leg of the semi-finals with the return leg at the Crown Ground next Friday.

Jacobson says he could not be happier after dropping down to League Two following an injury-ravaged spell at Oldham Athletic.

"To reach the playoff final for a club of our size is a massive achievement and we're all really looking forward to it," he said.

"I love life at Accrington and they've been so good to me since I arrived.

"I came here on loan and did well which was important because I had a lot of injuries at Oldham.

"They've let me play my football and we've been winning games so it's been a fantastic time to be here."

A former captain of the Wales Under 21 team, Jacobson said: "We were right down the bottom of the table earlier in the season but now we're 13 games unbeaten and we're fully focused on getting past Stevenage."

Accrington came from two goals down to record a 2-2 draw at Stevenage in February and Jacobson is expecting another tough test against the Graham Westley's men.

"Stevenage are a strong side and you don't finish in the playoffs if you're not a good team," he added.

"We know they'll be tough but we're on a good run and are full of confidence. We've been playing well and we're determined to do the job."
