Irving Modlin praised Maccabi Manchester 2nds five-star cup showing against South Manchester Sports 2nd.

Modlin’s men put one-foot in the Shon Trophy semi-finals after romping home 5-0, with Jack Myers, Saul Davies and Dan Rubensteen all netted before the break.

And the onslaught continued after the restart, with Ben Gould and Richard Buxton adding the gloss as the visitors were put to the sword.

Modlin told JC Sport: "We have given ourselves some real daylight and we are very confident of progressing now.

"Once we got our noses in front we were always hoping to chalk up a few goals.

"Dan Margolis and Jonny Davies were the stand-out performers, but Dan Rubensteen, who scored the goal of the game with a 30-yard thunderbolt, also deserves special mention."
