It's good to talk, says Domb

David Domb has revealed an emotional heart to heart chat with his Hyde Park players has got his team back on track in the MJSL.

Domb was left stunned as his side conceded a late equaliser in last Wednesday’s student derby against Oakhill as they dropped two crucial points in their chase for the title.

But after getting his players together to discuss their recent failings, Domb was thrilled to see them smiling once again after thrashing Sporting JLGB 4-0 on Sunday.

“We had a very honest and frank discussion about what was going on and everybody had something to say,” said the Rovers boss.

“At times it just looked like the players weren’t enjoying themselves and that’s not what it’s about.

“I want them to enjoy their football and if they enjoy it then they’ll play a lot better.

“The chat wasn’t about putting anyone down or criticising anyone, it was just about how we as a collective can improve and enjoy our football.

“It was very useful and everyone came away from the chat in a positive mood and really looking forward to the game against Sporting.

“And I think you saw that against Sporting we looked like we were enjoying ourselves and having fun which is what it’s all about.”

Oli Grant scored twice and both David Herman and James Hudaly were on target as Rovers cruised to victory.

And with the return fixture against Oakhill scheduled for Wednesday at Frederick Road, Domb is looking for more of the same from his free-scoring stars.

He added: “We played really well and now we’re hoping to carry on our run against Oakhill because we need to be winning games.

“We believe we can challenge for the title and for trophies and with two games in the next few days it’s really important we get some points.

“We know we’re capable and we know we have goals in us because we’ve got some great strikers in the team.

“Oakhill will be a tough game because they have a good side and we know what they’re about.

“But the whole squad is excited and we’re looking forward to taking on Oakhill.”
