Israel close in on Davis Cup World Group return

Israel booked their place in the the Davis Cup World Group Playoffs after clinching an unassailable 3-0 lead over Poland at Ramat Hasharon.

The hosts got off to a flying start when Dudi Sela eased past Marcin Gawron in straight sets - 6-1, 6-3, 6-4.

There was pressure on the shoulders of debutant Amir Weintraub, but the , 24-year-old did not disappoint. He held his nerve to beat Jerzy Janowicz in five sets - 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, 6-7 (4-7 ), 6-3.

Victory was confirmed when Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich paired up to overcome Marcin Matkowski and Mariusz Fyrstenberg 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-1.
