Israel bowls tour another success, says Lustigman

articlemain

The touring Maccabi GB Lawn Bowls team registered two victories and three defeats in Israel.

The 46-strong delegation, which included 32 bowlers, had successes against Haifa and Netanya BC while losing to Kiryat Ono, Savyon and a very strong Ramat Gan BC team.

The tour included visits to Yad Vashem, Haifa Technion, Neve Landy boys home and Gan V'nof Youth Village.

Despite a period of relative calm, the group has been warmly welcomed in Israel, travelling in the Maccabi Tel Aviv football team bus.

Tour leader Stuart Lustigman said: "Notwithstanding this being the sixth lawn bowls tour, enthusiasm to travel the country and play bowls has not diminished and we never cease to be impressed by the achievements of this remarkable fledgling State."
