Israel beaten by Uruguay

articlemain

Israel were beaten 4-1 by Uruguay in the first match under new boss Luis Fernamdez.

Playing the first match of two of a South American tour, Israel made a disastrous start as Athletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan put the hosts ahead.

Lior Rafaelov hauled Israel level after 30 minutes but missing key men Yossi Benayoun and Tal Ben Haim, the visitors tired with Alvaro Pereira and Sebastian Abreu (2) wrapping things up.

Fernandez’s men complete the trip against Chile on Monday.
