JC MSFL DIVISION THREE
NORSTAR C 2 OAKWOOD B 7

Title-chasing Oakwood B finished in seventh heaven as they outclassed Norstar C with an emphatic 7-2 victory at the Ark.

It was a game that will be remembered for Oaks keeper Oren Hury scoring direct from a goal kick at the start of the second half. It was an amazing moment and the celebrations from Hury were pretty special.

Oaks took the lead midway through the first half through player-manager Ian Tussie after good work from Matt Geey (it was all in the finish though).

Norstar equalised soon after through Ali Gordon, but Ben Polak restored the lead before the break, following up Matt Geey's effort.

The hosts went into the break disappointed, believing Oakwood hadn't really tested them and were left to reflect on a couple of sloppy errors.

The second half saw Oakwood turn the screw and Norstar fade away. Hury made it three and then Oaks controlled the rest of the game. Polak scored two more, both from Geey crosses, before a passing move that the great Brendan Rogers would have been proud of ended with Geey getting a deserved goal.

Charlie Cohen added a seventh with a fortuitous cross that went straight in before Gordon grabbed his and Norstar's second with a well-taken finish to make it 7-2.

Oakwood manager Ian Tussie told JC Sport: "I'm really happy for Oren, he's a very popular player in the squad and has been great this season improving every week. It's not often a keeper scores direct from a goal kick but it was bashert that he'd be the man to do it.

"I'm surprised to see their manager's post-match comments that they were expecting a much tougher opposition. Hopefully next time we give them a harder game"

Norstar boss Zack Gothelf told JC Sport: "We took heart from playing against a team right up there in our league. We were expecting a much tougher opposition and we'll give them a much better game in the return leg."
