Huller hat-trick inspires South comeback

articlemain

A hat-trick from debutant Leon Huller earned South Manchester Maccabi Sports Club 1st a 3-3 draw at Lawds in the Manchester Accountants League Premier Division.

Played in torrential conditions from first kick to last, South Manchester staged a remarkable comeback with Huller the hero.

South started on the back foot against a team clearly playing a number of quality players used to playing at a higher level.

The South midfield was overrun with their opponents quick passing which defied the boggy conditions and found themselves 3-0 down after just 20 minutes.

Somehow South managed to keep their opponents out in the first half as it could have been considerably worse.

Half time saw Brewer on to tighten the defence and David Chaytow brought into centre midfield. The management’s instructions were to play for pride but that one goal could turn the game.

Joey Lazare appeared with 30 minutes remaining and he started to get behind the Lawds defence. Parry and Chaytow were now bossing the midfield.

With 20 minutes remaining a defensive mix up saw Huller walk the ball into the net.Five minutes later a Marc Yaffe cross was volleyed in by Huller to reduce the deficit to one.

Incredibly, Huller powered through again and completed his treble to complete a mad 10 minutes.

With 10 minutes remaining it was all South as Lazare, Parry and Ezair all went close to completing a remarkable turnaround, but a draw was a fair result.

Next up for South are unbeaten leaders Manchester Falcons at Hough End.
