JC CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP ROUND THREE
HENDON UTD SPORTS CLUB B 2 GLENTHORNE UNITED B 1

Hendon edged into the next round after goals from Gav Noe and Pinty Baddiel helped them avoid a potential upset against Division Three title favourites Glenthorne B in west Hendon.

James Rubin had put Glenthorne ahead.

With Motty Korman pulling the strings, there was relief all round when the final whistle blew.

Hornets joint-player-manager Chaim Gothold told JC Sport: "It was an excellent performance against a good team that should be playing at a higher level.

"Glenthorne put us under a lot of pressure towards the end of the game, but we held strong and look forward to the next round.

"We are looking forward to the quarter-final draw."

Thornes joint-player-manager Craig Sandford told JC Sport: "After being 1-0 and cruising, we let two sloppy goals in and Hendon defended brilliantly.

"As I mentioned before the game, we had to match Hendon in determination but it just seemed that they wanted it more.

"I can't quite put my finger on why things didn’t happen for us, but you get games like this and now we can apply all our efforts to the league.

"We wish Motty Korman and Hendon all the luck for the next round."
