HMH youth review: September 15

articlemain

A win and a draw made it a rather disappointing weekend in the Cup for the HMH sides in the Watford Friendly League.

A Max Johnson strike ensured a share of the spoils for the under-11s in a 1-1 draw in their League Cup Group A tie with Aldenham Excel Athletic. There was no joy for the under-17 Raiders as they were on the receiving end of a 7-1 thrashing in their League Cup Round One game against Hendon Utd, with Ben Summerfield’s goal barely even a consolation.

The under-16 Wildcats came out on top in the HMH derby match with their fellow Under 16 side, winning 4-2 in an entertaining game. Anthony Meir (2), Ollie Lass and Ariel Rahamim netted for the Wildcats, with Josh Kenley and Jonti Aremband replying for HMH.

Dom Feldman and George Goldberg goals were enough to earn a point for the under-17s in a closely fought 2-2 draw with Abbots Youth.

There were further defeats though for the under-14s and the Raiders under-12s, with the former losing 2-0 to Alexandra South. The Raiders were more comprehensively beaten, finding themselves on the receiving end of an 8-0 drubbing at the hands of Olympiacos White.

There was not much success for the HMH sides in the MJFL either, with only one side picking up three points.

Negev under-10s were the victorious side in the second all HMH match of the weekend, beating Eilat 6-3. Ben Gur, Jack Grossman, Oliver Davis and Jack Adler all found the net once, with Toby Marks contributing with two goals, while Saul Norton (2) and Reuben Gordon replied for Eilat.

There was excitement to be had in HMH under-10s 4-4 draw with Northwood White, with a Jasper Wax hat-trick and Ethan Seal effort gaining a point. A point was the reward for the Jaffa side too, as they kept a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with Hendon United Green.

Defeats though for three HMH teams wrapped up a fairly unsuccessful weekend in the MJFL. The under-11s recorded two defeats, with a Ruben Nourmand goal not enough to prevent Eilat from falling to a narrow 2-1 loss against Brady Maccabi, while Jaffa lost 7-1 to Alyth Belsize Red, Adam Oberlander scoring for HMH. The final defeat came for the under-10 Tiberias side who were defeated 7-0 by Hendon Utd White.
