Hagar Shmoulefeld Finer pulled off the best win of her career as she exacted revenge over Germany's Julia Sahin to retain her Women's International Boxing Federation world bantamweight title in Ontario, Canada.

Tel Aviv-born Finer, 25, took a unanimous decision as she avenged a 10-round majority points defeat by Sahin in Hamburg in 2006.

The judges scored 98-92, 97-92, and 96-94 in favour Finer, who has now won 22, lost seven and drawn three times in her eight-year career while 36-year-old Sahin was beaten for only the second time in 22 professional fights.

Finer underlined her improvement since their first meeting by controlling the fight with some damaging body punches.

Sahin tried to rally several times but Finer more than matched by landing the harder punches as she made a successful third defence of the world title. Finer's next defence is likely to be against Canada's 39-year-old veteran Lisa 'Bad News' Brown who beat American Jeri Sitzes on the same bill.
