MJFL UNDER 11 CUP

BRADY WHITE 3 HMH JAFFA 1

Sunday saw another fine performance from Brady Whites U11s as they beat HMH Jaffa 3-1 to reach the next round of the U11 MJFL Cup.

The fact that Brady Whites played the entire match with only eight boys and no subs against Jaffa’s nine made the result and the performance even more remarkable.

Right from kick-off Brady were on the attack taking the game to Jaffa and it was difficult to tell which team had a player short.

Within five minutes Jack Durban collected the ball on the right wing and under serious Jaffa pressure whipped in a long cross which found its way to Danny Leboff at the back post who coolly beat the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 to Brady.

But Jaffa were not beaten yet. The rest of the first half was very tight with both teams having chances.

Charlie Crow in goal for Brady was in command at the back, with captain Jake Taibel keeping the defence organised to repel Jaffa each time they threatened.

At the other end Jack Linch fired in a great shot which was heading for the top corner but for a wonderful finger-tip save from the Jaffa goal keeper.

The second half resumed in much the same way as the first half finished with both teams battling for possession. However, Brady went 2-0 ahead when a Jayden Meranda free kick fell nicely to Sam Linch on the edge of the penalty box and without a second thought fashioned a sweet right-foot curling shot into the top corner.

Not settling for this, Brady continued to attack at every opportunity and when Samuel Adams managed to finally beat the organised Jaffa offside trap he was able race through to score Brady’s third and his seventh of the season.

Jaffa were able to grab a late consolation goal but by this time the tie was won and Brady were through to the next round.

Brady manager Perry Linch said: "I was so proud of the boys today. When you can only field eight players against the opposition’s nine you know it’s going to be a tough game, but they gave everything and their team work saw them through for a richly deserved victory."

Brady scorers: Danny Leboff, Sam Linch, Samuel Adams
