Hendon United A 7-1 Redbridge Jewish Care A

Hendon United A reached their first major final after outclassing Premier Division rivals Redbridge at Rowley Lane.

A delighted Hendon manager Jonathan Kestenbaum commented: “There was so much determination on show, having been beaten in three semi-finals in the past 12 months. I just got the sense throughout the whole squad that they knew this was a must-win game, and as they proved, they played some really good football.”

Hammers skipper Josh Bentley scored the opener which was soon followed by a stunning solo effort from Motty Korman. Redbridge were given a lifeline in first half stoppage time when Anthony Mendel curled home a free kick. However, it was all to no avail as Hendon restored their two-goal advantage early in the second half with Lipman slipping the third past Paul Leonard.

Greg Corin made the tie safe five minutes later, heading home into an empty net after Leonard had denied Lipman. Redbridge were totally outclassed and what followed was nothing short of a rampage from Hendon. Last added a fifth before Korman showed great technique to drill home number six. Last completed the rout on 88 minutes with a vicious effort to finish Redbridge off.

Redbrige manager Trevor Moss commented: “I was disappointed with some of the players, and I thought some of them froze. Hendon are a quality side and they certainly deserve to win something this season.”
