A last-minute winner from Avidan Last, his second of the game, earned Hendon an important win over FC Team A at Old Camdenians.

The match started at a brisk pace and both sides were evenly matched for the first 20 minutes.

FC Team took the lead when striker Richard Salmon pounced onto a fine through pass and slid the ball home, with the help of a small deflection.

Hendon gradually started to grab a foothold and equalised through an Ari Last penalty which was disputed by Team who thought their keeper had been fouled in the build-up.

As the game wore on, Hendon became more and more dominant, and eventually took a deserved lead in the 75th minute when Avidan Last pounced on a loose ball at the far post.

The game looked over, but Team were not to be denied and they equalised after keeper Russell Corin failed to hold onto a strong shot and the rebound was lashed in.

With time running out, Hendon continued to press and with a minute to go Avidan Last flung himself at another far post header after the goalkeeper had spilled the ball to send the Hendon players and fans wild.

Hendon boss David Garbacz told JC Sport: "Today was a testament to our added belief this year that perhaps was not evident last year. We kept going pressing and pressing and, even when they equalised with only a few minutes left, we believed we could still win it.

"The winning goal was a lesson in strike play from Avidan Last who pounced on a handling error from their keeper to throw himself bravely at a header from an acute angle to score a great goal. It was no less than we deserved - we were the dominant team throughout but FC Team are a vastly improved side and are well organised and difficult to break down.

"Our attitude was tremendous and it was exemplified by another great performance from young Avi Korman down the right flank who caused them no end of problems.

"All credit to FC Team - they are a really good enthusiastic club who love their Sunday morning football and are a fine example to some of the more established clubs.

"This was a massive three points against a team I expect to be well up there at the end of the season and shows that we really do mean business this year."

FC Team boss Mitch Young told JC Sport: "We are bitterly disappointed, near on devastated not to get a point. To concede such a soft goal in the last second of a hard game was really hard to take.

"We matched Hendon all the way, stopped them from getting in behind and had large parts of the game. We were on top until they got a penalty, but to be fair to Hendon they played very well.

"I was slightly dissapointing with our attacking play as I felt we could have tested them more and scored more goals, but overall a draw would have been the right result.

"We move on to Norstar in what will be a great game to bounce back in."
