Israel international striker Tomer Hemed has joined Brighton & Hove Albion.

Hemed, 28, agreed a three-year deal with the Championship club, who are owned by Tony Bloom, for an undisclosed fee after joining from Almeria.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton admitted he had been tracking the progress of Hemed for some time.

Hughton told the Brighton club website: "Tomer was a player who the club’s recruitment team were also aware of, and we have been working towards bringing him to the club since the start of the year.

“Tomer is 6ft tall, strong and he has played much of his football in La Liga and at international level. He is very capable of scoring goals.

Hemed has registered 27 goals in 72 starts in La Liga, as well as 10 international goals for Israel since 2011.

Hughton said: “It’s another significant signing for us. I have no doubts about Tomer adapting to Championship football and improving our attacking threat.”
