Chigwell Athletic have landed a major coup after it was confirmed that Mickey Hazard, the former Spurs player, is joining the club on an advisory basis.

The move comes following a successful training day at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre where Hazard put the squad through their paces.

Chigwell Director of Football Development Ben Richman said: "We're delighted we impressed Mickey to the point where he wants to have more of an involvement within the club."

"He'll be coming to some games and taking various sessions through the season, juggling with his other coaching commitments at various other clubs."

Following a coaching role with Spurs, Hazard, who also played for Chelsea and Swindon, played a key role in heading up the youth development system at Crystal Palace.

Chigwell chairman Richard Slater said: "Ben and I will be speaking to Mickey on a week to week basis with regards to team selection, and what sessions he can take for us throughout the season.

"His football knowledge and coaching ability is by far the best I've seen at this level.

"It's amazing he wants to be involved with us and full credit goes to Ben Richman for making it happen."
