Hawks braced for victory

articlemain

Hendon Hawks Under 9's secured their first points of the season with a fantastic performance against Redbridge in which two players grabbed braces.

Joseph Pliener was at the centre of all the action in Sunday's encounter and was on hand to assist Dan Silver in opening the scoring with a through ball for Silver to latch onto a pass and slide past the Redbridge keeper. Pliener and Silver were denied several goal-scoring opportunities during the first half due to a fantastic performance by the Redbridge keeper; one worthy of an England call up, according to one spectator.

The second half followed a similar pattern as Hendon Hawks continued to dominate. Silver and Daniel Cohen formed a great partnership during the game, resulting in Cohen netting twice; once straight from a corner and the other thanks to a through ball from Nethaniel Lauer which enabled Cohen to slot the ball beyond the keeper.

Silver netted his brace shortly before full time after Cohen crossed the ball in for Silver to poach into the back of the net to make it 4-0.

A strong performance in goal by Charlie Gittlemon ensured a clean sheet for the Hawks who now move into fourth place with this win.
