Hapoel Tel Aviv on the cusp of Europa League joy

articlemain

Hapoel Tel Aviv need a point from their last two games to qualify for the last 32 of the Europa League after claiming a stunning victory against Rapid Vienna in Austria.

A 13th minute opener from Avihay Yadin together with second half strikes from Gil Vermouth and Bebars Natcho were on target in a 3-0 win that saw them complete the double over the former group leaders.

Hapoel boss Eli Gutman said: “Just like I said in Israel [a fortnight ago after our 5-1 win], if you would have told me we’d get a result like this, I would have accused you of being drunk.”

Hapoel’s next match is against Celtic on December 2. They beat the Scots 2-1 in the opening group match in September.
