PMT: Hendon Utd A 2 Bafana Bafana 0

Upon arriving at West Hendon, both teams were amazed to see a lake had formed outside the changing rooms and feared that yet another postponement would ensue. However, to everyone's surprise, the pitch was in near perfect condition and Hendon had a rare chance to play some football on a Sunday morning.

The game started briskly with Hendon creating the better of the chances and the impressive Avidan Last was denied three times in the first half hour with only the woodwork denying Saul Conway.

This seemed to wake Bafana up and prompted by Eyal Fisher and Dan Perkins in the midfield started to create chances.

First they hit the Hendon bar and then Danny Berliner pulled off two great saves to keep things level at half time.

In the second half Hendon stepped up a gear and the tireless running of Motti Korman proved to be the difference. First he won a free kick which was floated in by Ari Last. After a scramble in the goalmouth the ball fell to Josh Lipman who rifled home.

On the hour mark Korman picked up the ball midway inside the Bafana half and ran through the defence before sending an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner.

Hendon saw out the rest of the game without much fuss, with the strong defensive partnership of Paul Bentley and Alex Rosenthal keeping the ball well away from the danger areas and the powerhouses in the midfield, Josh Bentley and Josh Lipman making sure most of the game was played in the Bafana half.

After the game, manager Benjy Wreschner, who was forced to fill in as an emergency left back said: "Overall, I was delighted with yet another good win. The team spirit is great and we're playing good football in patches.

"However, we know that we have some huge challenges ahead and will need to keep working hard in the weeks ahead. We had five first team players missing today so I'm confident that we will get even stronger in the new year."
