JC CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP ROUND TWO
HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A 6 GLENTHORNE UNITED A 0

A late flurry of goals saw David Garbacz's troops ease into round three following a brave effort by second division Glenthorne at Hadley FC.

A hat-trick from ARI LAST plus supersub Danny Kon (2) and Yishai Last sealed the win.

Jubilant Hendon boss David Garbacz told JC Sport: "Glenthorne battled hard and were well organised and for 70 minutes were in the game at only 1-0 down.

"However after we scored our long-awaited second goal, we finally found our scoring boots and really turned it on in the last 20. We missed a few chances early on to put the game to bed but in truth we were always pretty comfortable.

"Overall we were happy to put in a good professional performance, to score some nice goals and we only had to resort to the long ball on a couple of occasions, Mr Yartlett will be pleased to know!

"Well done to Ari Last for a fine hat-trick and now that's the first banana skin is out of the way, we can look forward to a decent cup run."

Thornes player-manager Dan Lipman told JC Sport: "We held our own for 70 minutes and were only a goal down due to a first-half penalty. But following a moment of madness at the back, which lead to Hendon's second goal, we fell to pieces, resulting in a scoreline which I feel flattered Hendon.

"There were lots of positives we can take from the game but also a few negatives. We mainly need to work on trust and togetherness because without these we will struggle to kick on in the league."
