Haifa progress in Champions League

articlemain

Maccabi Haifa cruised into the third qualifying round of the Champions League with a 7-4 aggregate win over Borac on Wednesday night.

Leading 5-1 from the first leg in Israel last week, the Israelis fell behind after nine minutes when Branislav Krunić struck for the Bosnians at the Gradski Stadium.

But their joy was short-lived as the visitors drew level through striker Vladimir Dvalishvili midway through the first half.

A feisty contest saw seven players booked and it was Borac who went into the interval leading when Krunić scored his and Borac's second of the night.

Dvalishvili levelled the scores after 54 minutes and even though Nemanja Vidaković scored a late winner for Borac, it was Haifa who booked their place in the next qualifying round against Slovenians champions Maribor.
