Daniel Grant is a European champion after helping England win the prestigious EuroPilota 2010 in Spain.

Part of a 12-man squad, Grant was involved in all the team's double matches as England beat Italy and Belgium in the group stages before seeing off the Netherlands in the semis. Grant said: "We beat everyone in straight sets, until the final which was the most dramatic and incredible of my life."

Up against the hosts in front of 1,000 baying spectators and the television cameras, Grant admitted that "nerves got to us in the first set and Spain were empowered by the crowd, winning comfortably".

After saving two match points, England won a nail-biting second set before cruising to victory in the third set tie-break. Grant said: "Riding on the high from the second set, we finally starting to play our top game.

"It was the biggest handball final in history and I was incredibly proud to be part of it. It was also one of the greatest nights of my life."
