MGBSFL DIVISION ONE
NORTH WEST NEASDEN 3 WOODFORD WANDERERS 1

Scott Kay, Dan Orgel and Michael Field fired Neasden to their second win of the season as they battled past Woodford at Hadley FC.

Both teams started the game well, with NWN taking control after about 15 minutes. The home side failed to capitalise on a number of opportunities and after a momentary lapse in concentration, Woodford took the lead with a wonder strike from 30 yards which was to be their one and only shot on target during the 90 minutes.

After controlling the rest of the first half NWN were unable to make our pressure count and went in at half-time 1-0 down.

Starting the second half with a real determination, it wasn't long before NWN were back on level terms. A corner was floated in by Michael Field and Kay met it with a fine half volley under pressure at the far post.

The game restarted and 10 minutes later Orgel hit a well placed shot into the bottom left corner to make the score 2-1.

The third Neasden goal came after great play from striker Field, controlling a high through ball and sliding the ball past the keeper.

There were many more opportunities for NWN to further their lead, however the Woodford keeper, and the post kept the score down to three.

NWN manager Andrew Goldman told JC Sport: "In a hard-fought game that we needed to win, I was extremely proud of the lads in the way they played. After going a goal down, the reaction was excellent and we fully deserved the three points.

"After we equalised, some of the Woodford players tried their best to wind us up knowing the game was only heading one way, and I was very impressed to see my team react in the best possible way by scoring two goals in quick succession.

"On another day we could've scored 6 or 7, and if we continue to play like that every week, we will be up at the top of the league come the end of the season."
