Golden weekend for HIS

articlemain

HIS enjoyed a stunning weekend of success at the Jom Havoetbal tournament in Amsterdam.

The under-eight side, managed by Michael Abraham, won all their group games without conceding, before thrashing locals Rosh Pinah 7-0 in the final thanks to four goals from Chase Calvert.

Paul Becker and Bobby Davila’s under-12 side defeated South Manchester 6-0 in the final after qualifying from their group without losing a game.

Meanwhile, in the seniors, neither South Manchester nor Oakwood managed to make the final of the competition.

But South Manchester chairman Jonny Davis says the weekend was a huge success for all involved.

“It was a great weekend and it was great to see the seniors and kids bonding so well,” he said.

“Everyone really enjoyed the trip.

“It’s the 11th consecutive year we’ve competed and it’s been good fun.”

Oakwood boss Ric Blank also expressed his delight at competing in Europe’s largest Jewish football tournament.

He said: “Oakwood had an unbelievable time out in Amsterdam and enjoyed our debut at Jom Ha Voetbal.

“The tournament had everything and we can’t wait take an even stronger squad out next year.”
