Goldberg gets Fortune A off the mark

articlemain

Strikes from Michael Goldberg (2), Jason Miller, Rob Benson and Jeff Bathija saw Temple Fortune A win an eight-goal thriller over Montana at the Hive.

Gary Cohen hauled Montana level with a pile-driver but they made a disastrous start to the second half and found themselves 4-1 down.

Montana then made three changes due to injuries. Simon Hecker came on and set up two goals - one for debutant Jordan Segal - a scorcher from the edge of the area - and another for the other newcomer Simon Lindall.

Fortune boss Lee Fegan, who rushed from a family break away to be there and play, said: "I'm really pleased with the overall performance. We played some excellent football and the team really came together and bounced back from last week's defeat.

"Michael Goldberg was exceptional and delivered a performance beyond expectations. I'm delighted we started so positively on our new pitch which suits our game."

Jack Morris, Fortune's Fortune No. 2, told JC Sport: "I felt we gained control of the game after about 25 minutes, and really should have seen the game out comfortably at 4-1 with five to go.

"We went to sleep twice to let them back in at 4-3, but grabbed a fifth to seal it."

Montana boss Vivian Emanuel told JC Sport: "Today's game was frustrating. We played a good game of football at times but we made three mistakes that cost us the game unfortunately.

"At 4-3 down and five to go we look in the game and thought we could equalise. But with the clock ticking down we fell asleep at the back and let in a last minute goal.

"On to next week again Oakwood."
