Glushko stuns Petrova at US Open

articlemain

Julia Glushko (128) won her first-ever grand slam match and dumped 20th seed Nadia Petrova out of the US Open in straight sets in the first round at Flushing Meadow.

The Israeli overpowered the Russian and former world no. 3 to record the finest victory of her career and set up a second round tie against US qualifier Sachia Vickery (238).

Glushko, who won three matches in the qualifying round to reach the main draw, took advantage of the fact that Petrova has not played since being injured at Wimbledon in June as she won 6-3, 6-4.
